The Process:
At the onset of covid-19, Bold At Work worked with the National Youth Council in creating YouthTech, a traineeship programme aimed at matching the many organisations that needed digitalisation support with youths aspiring to careers in the digital marketing and design space. Bold played a key role in supporting both the trainees (many of whom were new to the workforce) and the host organisations, many of whom were taking in digital trainees for the first time, thus ensuring that the trainees were able to process their experience and gain insights into their career discovery and development process, as well as build up their portfolio and skills to adapt and thrive at the workplace. Examples of modules developed to specifically support the youths in this transition based on a needs assessment include: i) Understanding Your Digital Body Language, ii) Online Productivity Hacks, iii) Career Coaching with Epitome tools and iv) Understanding Your Host Organisation Needs. This enabled the youths to turn crisis into opportunity, leveraging the traineeship opportunity to develop career resilience and assets that would support them in the longer run.
