Our Yuhua Mural- In 2019, Bold At Work became a canvas for the explorations of young artists looking to create art as a form of engagement in the community. A collaboration with Dr Margaret Tan of Tembusu College, Our Yuhua Mural was the culmination of a junior seminar on mural-making, through which students went from theory, conceptualisation to the actual painting of a mural in the community. Students walked through the history of murals across different cultures and time periods, discussing the role of art in public spaces and community life.

BOLD Life Designers Yiming and Yihong initiated the project, to test out their ideas around how art, in the form of a mural, could bring people together. They walked the ground, collecting impressions and memories that would make their way into the final works. During one of Bold’s vibrant Pazaars@319, residents were also invited to view the various designs, from whimsical to realistic, and indicate the choice of their preferred murals.
