Jeslyn
The One That Got Away; The Foodie; The Player
Having lived the majority of her life in Jurong, Jurong is filled with many memories for Jeslyn — from being forced to report to school at 7am to run around the canal, to going for dates with her then boyfriend (and current husband) at Jurong Central Park.
When she was younger, she would tell her friends where she stayed was even better than a condominium. She explained that as she stayed at a HDB flat beside Jurong East Swimming Complex, she and her friends would swim and walk back to her house to wash up. She thus had access to the similar facilities as those living in a condominium, except that after washing up, they could even head back to the swimming complex for KFC. Other times, they would plan to swim but end up going only to KFC.
Even though she no longer lives in Jurong, Jeslyn is an expert of hawker food in Jurong and we were floored by her impressive knowledge of it. Like a true foodie, she would travel to Jurong just for its food. Once, she woke up with cravings for her favourite Char Tow Kway and immediately grabbed to Jurong alone only to find out she had left her wallet at home. Thankfully, the auntie was extremely understanding, and she still had her Char Teow Kway cravings fulfilled. It’s no surprise then, that when asked what she hopes to see in Jurong was for hawker culture to be preserved.
A fun-loving individual, Jeslyn plays many games -- from video games like Call of Duty to Mahjong! She shares how she would sometimes visit seniors to play Mahjong with them.
