The Process:

Bold kicked off with a Train-the-Trainer preparation workshop for the school's Project Work educators. Bold then models leading 150 JC1 Project Work group leaders through a design thinking process across a two-part workshops at the onset of the school's PW cycle. The intention is not for the DT workshops to replace the school's PW curriculum. Instead, the Bold At Work team focused on injecting fresh perspectives and inspiring fresh ways of doing things to complement to school's already rigorous curriculum. We introduced students to new tools to Problem-find, Zoom in-Zoom out, empathy mapping and the Art of Asking Good Questions and curated a platform for students to practice these skills through interactions with a human library of real world practitioners, to enhance Empathy. We also introduced creative ideation tools fo divergence and convergence, supporting youths to practice creativity and critical problem solving.

Testimonials:

“Bold at Work was able to offer new perspectives, insight and strategies of engaging the students' interests in design-thinking. Through segments of collaborative group facilitation, the human library, and hands-on experiential learning, they were able to effectively find gaps in the College's existing design thinking process to engage students.”
- Mr. Toshiyuki, Teacher-in-Charge

“The collaboration between ACJC and Bold At Work provided the College with an opportunity for educators to refine and sharpen their understanding of Design Thinking, updating the application of theoretical concepts to new and innovative pedagogical frameworks. This allowed our teachers to reflect on the delivery and receptiveness of our current strategies and gain new ideas for revamping where necessary.”
